AN AMERICAN MEDICAL INDUSTRY'S DOMINANCE AT RISK: SOLUTIONS PROPOSED
Hi, Sean,
Evidence continues to mount that current federal policies threaten America’s global leadership in medical technology.
A new survey, following recent research from PriceWaterHouseCoopers and Stanford University, shows that a troubling trend – medical technology growing faster in other countries than in the U.S. – is likely to accelerate.
In response, the medical technology industry will soon come out with its most ambitious, aggressive agenda ever – a six-point policy plan to preserve America’s global leadership in the field.
The new survey and the policy plan, both from the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), will be unveiled on May 2.
Failure to adopt better policies, the industry has warned, will hurt patients who depend on the latest innovations – insulin pumps, defibrillators and the like. It will also undermine our healthcare system and national economy, lowering the quality of care and raising costs.
I’ll shortly send you further details about the survey’s findings and the six specific proposals. At any point you’re welcome to interview Steve Ubl, AdvaMed’s President and CEO.
Thank you.
Cheers,
Bob Brody
